In its simplest form, a campaigner is someone who works for a social or political change.

Samira Zuberi Himika’s role as a campaigner starts from 2005, at UNDP: Department of Anti-Corruption Advocacy Campaign. Here Anti-corruption Commission Reform was one of the major outcomes of the campaign, and to implement this outcome Himika personally trained 120 journalists from 41 organizations on investigative journalism.
The next step happened when she along with a full-fledged team of BBC launched – BBC Janala; the first IVR who started their journey with educational content for mass people. In a time when people in Bangladesh were not so familiar with process of texting each other, Himika fought to make the campaign friendly enough for people so that they can reach and learn English on their own, for their own good. (At the peak of their campaign, BBC Janala received 12 million subscribers under their wing).

With the initiation of her Social Good Company, Team Engine, Samira started being the face of prime-time campaigning. She did global social campaign like “Joutuk Birodhi Andolon” (Raising Voice & Awareness against Dowry system), Madok Birodhi Andolon (Awareness against Drug addiction), Acid Incidents & Victims etc. Most of them were pictorial crusades held in various Schools & Colleges. Then Himika and her team launched Alchemy- encouraging a nationwide campaign on the art of healthy living. With the oath “Shupothey, Shopothey”; the journey of health promotion and disease prevention campaign begun. It was designed to serve as a roadmap for improving the fitness of people residing in Bangladesh by the end of the 2017.
